Backed by “His Airness” Michael Jordan, Luka Doncic Is on His Way to Take Basketball Waterways

Since his arrival in the NBA, Luka Doncic has broken the barriers of what is possible. From making unbelievable shots to leading his team, the Dallas Mavericks to the Western Conference Finals, the Slovenian phenom has done it all. However, the 24-year-old is now on a mission to make an unimaginable notion possible – playing basketball on water.

Professional basketball has forever been confined to open courts or indoor arenas. However, Doncic’s idea may revolutionise the sport itself. If you think this is just an idea the Mavericks guard has floating around, you’d be surprised to know it is backed by none other than His Airness, Michael Jordan. The Chicago Bulls legend and his iconic tie-up with Nike will power Doncic’s unbelievable venture. Set to begin on September 16th, this innovative approach to the age-old sport is sure to blow your mind!

Luka Doncic takes basketball waterways

Luka Doncic has had an incredible offseason so far, venturing into untapped markets. Although his 2023 FIBA World Cup ended in dismay, the 4-time All-Star’s off-court endeavors have brought him tremendous success. After venturing into AI technology and releasing a self-produced docuseries, Doncic will now revolutionise his favorite sport, taking it waterways.

The Mavericks guard will host a 3v3 basketball tournament beginning on September 16th in the middle of a lake! As unbelievable as it sounds, this venture also has the backing of Michael Jordan and his iconic Jordan Brand. Doncic signed a whopping contract extension with the brand just months ago which has now prompted their partnership in this revolutionary event.

This tournament will take place in Doncic’s home country, the “Green Piece of Europe,” Slovenia. Doncic will host a select group of talented basketball players on Lake Bled, nestled near the Julian Alps while also emphasising his partnership with the Jordan Brand. The Mavericks guard will take this opportunity to showcase a brand-new colorway of his Air Jordan signature sneakers, the “Luka 2 BLED,” which recently hit the market.

The stunning scenery, the beautiful weather of the summer and a state-of-the-art floating court make this event one for the ages. In fact, it is interesting to note that this location also holds a special place in Doncic’s heart.

Doncic brings his innovation to a dear location

Luka Doncic will host one of the most unique basketball tournaments fans have ever witnessed this week. The 3v3 tournament on Lake Bled is truly a revolutionary approach to a basketball event coined by the 4-time All-Star. However, this location also holds special significance for the 24-year-old. Just months ago, the Mavericks guard proposed to his long-time girlfriend, Anamaria Goltes in this very location.

Luka Doncic announced his engagement with Anamaria Goltes on Instagram, warming the hearts of several NBA fans. The Slovenian superstar also made the announcement on a special day, as the date resembled his jersey number, “77”. However, Doncic has now added another personal touch to his decisions, bringing the innovative tournament to the place he announced this joyous news.
